In the event of inclement weather, it may seem appropriate to cancel classes. Here is the general protocol. If the the Orchestra School is closed, obviously classes will be cancelled. If the public schools are closed or have early dismissal due to weather, the Orchestra School may still be open. That is because the school officials often have to make those decisions early and by the time most of the Orchestra School lessons and classes are happening the weather may have changed. If a storm is later the school may close even if the public schools were in session. It is best to check with the orchestra office. That information is usually given to the news stations, but due to the large volume of reports they receive it is sometimes published after the fact. If the group classes are cancelled for any reason, that announcement will be made on this website. In the event that I am away from a computer and have to post using a mobile device, the program sometimes only allows posting on the blog feature, so be sure and check that as well, otherwise it will be posted on the Home page. I will also inform someone at the orchestra office in case anyone calls there. If I am able, I will send an email to everyone who has been attending. If group classes are being held but you are uncomfortable with the weather, by all means use your own discretion as to whether or not you venture out. Safety and peace of mind are always the most important.
